Jules Metras

Jules Métras, son of the legendary Yvon, has just released the sixth vintage of his own wines (2019), a two-plot Beaujolais-Villages in Bize, a very cold village in the Vauxrenard village, currently making three cuvees.

Chiroubles de Viñas Viejas, Bijou a village plot and a new wine just near the 500 m altitude AOP limit, called Chiroubles 'La Montagne'.

Jules makes the wine the same way his father does and side by side in the same winery: the grapes, harvested relatively late, are cooled before a long, cold, mild carbonic fermentation with natural yeasts in sealed vats.

The attention to detail, with his little chalk notes written in code along the different small cement tanks, just like his father. And without adding sulfur, like his father.

For us Jules is more than a great vigneron, we consider him a great friend, an honest and principled person with whom it is a pleasure to work, by the way he speaks Spanish very well, since on his mother's side his family comes from Extremadura.

Jules is undoubtedly more than qualified to take the reins of the Metras winery and his father's legacy.
