Muster

Maria & Sepp Muster

Weingut Muster is located in the south of Steiermark, Austria. Maria & Sepp Muster took over the vineyard from Sepp's parents in 2000. The vines had never been treated with any chemicals before, so they quickly became Demeter certified in 2003.

Muster wines are easy to spot and believe in cutting it down to the bare essentials. The vineyards surround the winery, almost allegorically, in all four directions.
Maria & Sepp Muster grow according to biodynamic agricultural principles. As for many of his fellow vintners, understanding and trust in nature is key. With the aim of maintaining the harmony of the soil, plants and animals.

The mainly clay-calcareous soil is often referred to as "Opok" in this region of Styria. Summers are warm and winters are moderately cold. The cold winds of the summer nights ensure ripe grapes and a late harvest.

Muster vineyards tend to have steep slopes, making manual harvesting difficult. In these conditions they grow particular and complex wines. This type of viticulture has a lot of freedom, but it is also quite unpredictable. The good thing is that it brings changes and that is vital to make natural wine!

The concepts of little intervention are applied both in the vineyard and in the winery. Muster wines are made with spontaneous fermentation, without clarification or filtration. They are aged in barrels and the wines are not touched until bottling.

Muster is the forerunner of the current Styria movement, with his companions: Strohmeier, Tauss, Tscheppe's Brothers.

All available in Unicorn, Andrés Conde, the main supporter of them in Spain, has been working with them for more than 10 years.
