Unicorn wines

The word "unique" has become ubiquitous in the wine conversation. As the word becomes devalued, its meaning warped by overuse, we seek to reinforce it by adding modifiers: “very”, “really”, and (my personal favorite) “something like that”.

Unique means 'one of a kind', a concept that requires no modification and that is how we view Eric Pfifferling de L'Anglore wines.

What does it mean to be unique in the world of wine? For us it means a brilliant viticulturist whose philosophy and work in the vineyard and winery is unparalleled within his appellation.
It means wines that have a certain, “je ne sais quoi”, wines that are not only terroir-driven, but offer the wine lover insight into the person who made them.

For those unfamiliar, L'Anglore is a seven-hectare winery in Tavel, a southern French town on the western side of the Rhone River.
The Tavel designation of origin is only for rosé wine: ripe, fruity, powerful and based on Grenache.
A native of Tavel, Pfifferling was a beekeeper who sold his grapes to the cooperative until 2002, when he decided to make his own wine, blessed moment !!!
They own a very good terroir, on the east side of the Rhone, Eric Pfifferling and his family have very old vines, he works his vines without chemicals, harvests by hand and avoids any manipulation in the winery, that is, without yeast, enzymes. no added sulfur.

As far as we know, he is the only winegrower in Tavel to make wine in this way and his wines are often said to have the character of Tavel, before the advent of chemicals and 'tricks' in the cellar.

In truth, Pfifferling wines have legendary quality and it is difficult both to find them and to find information about them.

We are united by a great relationship with this family, Marie, his wife completes the family symbiosis in the vineyard and the winery.

Since 2017 his sons Joris and Thibault have been naturally integrated into the philosophy of the house, where they will continue to write the next beautiful pages of L'Anglore.
