Clos Rougeard

Clos Rougeard It has built a solid reputation among lovers of the great Cabernet Francs of the Loire, being considered the largest Cabernet Franc in France. A careful selection of grapes, a careful viticulture and an aging of 18 to 30 months in barrels, give birth to the Saumur-Champigny that is reflected over time:

Le Clos (mixture of two plots), Les Poyeux (2.9 hectares, plot of fairly sandy soil; length, fineness, freshness), Le Bourg (more limestone plot, less than 4,000 bottles; dense, firm, sunny). Brezé a target of just 1.5 hectares, in the limestone Grand Cru. This Chenin is expressed each year in dry form with an ideal balance between freshness and maturity, now with less wood than in the past, evolving majestically towards a palette of toasted aromas and candied yellow fruits. It can be drunk for the next twenty years. The wines: the 2015 only come out of the estate's cellars.

We should not hesitate to preserve this highly concentrated 2015 vintage for three or four years. Les Poyeux always seduces with its inimitable texture and the soft sensation it provokes, with its silky tannins. Your muscle promises you an exciting future. As usual, Le Bourg is the most contained due to its aging, the surprising density of its material and its structure ensure a long aging potential and a majestic expression for more than thirty years.

The 2015 vinification and aging was carried out by Nady Foucault and his nephew Antoine.

Little more to say, immense pleasure to be able to offer our customers one of the great unicorns in the world of wine.
