This is what this phenomenal couple of winegrowers write on their website:

In 2009 we left Canada with French work and holiday visas stamped on our passports and a question on our minds: why do the wines of France taste so good?

We had spent some time in the Canadian wine industry, with a brief twist on a Japanese domain, met more than a few very inspiring people, and tasted a great deal of good wine. But this French wine business still bothered us.

We spent twelve months in France visiting domains, talking to people, and trying pas mal du bon vin, but what we quickly discovered was a cursory year-long visit that wasn't going to reveal the long answer to our question.

Unfortunately, we find 4 hectares of vineyards in Anjou, near the village of Faye d'Anjou. The soils are mainly slate and clay. The varieties planted are the traditional ones of the region: chenin blanc, cabernet franc and grolleau noir.

We pursue the knowledge of the terroir and the vines. We believe that this requires a constant presence in the vineyards, making decisions that complement nature and taking care of the soil and plants.

Under the tutelage of the great Richard Leroy, they are surpassing each other vintage, very happy to have their wines in the Unicorn family.
